'What are YOU doing up this early?!'
Today's image is titled "What are YOU doing up this early?!" and was photographed by Angela Richardson.
Early morning is usually a good time to catch a glimpse of the menagerie of urban fauna that inhabit the yards, parks, and lakeshores of central Madison. This photo shows one familiar face crawling down a tree trunk in Yahara Place Park on Sunday. "This raccoon was shocked -- absolutely shocked, I tell you -- to see me out taking photos before 7 a.m. this morning," notes Richardson in the caption. "I was pretty shocked to be doing so myself."
More information about these masked procyonids, including their close relationship with humans, can be found in a fact sheet published by the Wisconsin DNR.
