The Eye of State Street
Today's image is titled "The Eye of State Street" and was photographed by Kristian Knutsen.
This photo shows the glass dome at the heart of the Rotunda Stage in the lower level of the arts center. A hollow column of lights runs nearly from floor to ceiling in the central rotunda, providing an iris in this makeshift eye on State Street.
"I went in and got a belated look at their holiday decoration, a pillar of light ascending to the atrium dome," writes one person who happened upon scene a couple of weeks ago and suggested it may be an example of the Kurt Vonnegut-coined phenomenon of a chronosynclastic infundibulum. "It had a science fiction feel to it."
