The Assembly Democrats will be voting for new leadership in a couple hours. The secret ballot vote will pit former U.S. Rep. Peter Barca (Kenosha) against Rep. Gordon Hintz (Oshkosh) for the position of minority leader.
For Assistant Minority Leader the Dems will again choose between a candidate from the Southeast and one from the North, as Sandy Pasch (Whitefish Bay) faces Donna Seidel (Wausau).
Of all four candidates, only Barca is a true Assembly veteran. He served in the chamber from 1984-1992, after which he served in Congress for one term. He was then elected to the Assembly again in 2008.
Seidel was first elected in 2004, Hintz in 2006, and Pasch in 2008.
