Circus World in Baraboo staging benefit fundraiser for injured aerialist
on

Fans of circus arts will recall that aerialist and magician's assistant Hannah Crist suffered vertebra and skull fractures when she fell from a trapeze in September at Baraboo's famed Circus World Museum.

"She is doing much better. However, she has a long way to go in physical therapy before she will be back in the air," reports her brother and co-performer, magician Tristan Crist. "She will be walking with a cane for a while, and still does not have complete feeling in her right leg. The doctors are hopeful for a complete recovery, but cannot estimate when and if that might happen."

Meanwhile, Crist needs help paying medical bills. Circus World is joining with Baraboo's historic Al Ringling Theatre to stage a benefit variety fundraiser at the theater, at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28. Hannah, a Baraboo resident who's performed at Circus World since 2008, will join her brother onstage.

The ornate 1915 venue was designed by the same firm that created Madison's Orpheum and Overture's Capitol theaters. Tickets begin at $10 and may be purchased in advance at Circus World (608-356-8341) or at the theater box office (608-356-8864). The museum is also accepting donations toward her recovery.
