Collecting MadVideos -- Modest Mouse makes some noise

A capacity audience greeted Modest Mouse for their concert at the Orpheum last Saturday, their first in Madison over the course of multiple tour swings through the Midwest over the last decade. "They played a great set," writes one fan who attended the show. "Some new, some old and all around it was just amazing."

The sound inside the old movie theater was appropriately gritty as the quintet got the crowd cheering. "This was the most cutthroat, kickass, hardcore drumming extravaganza I've seen," writes Emily Denaro in a review on The Daily Page. "Two drum kits towered over the rest of the stage, with Jeremiah Green and Joe Plummer lashing into them like a drum corps summoning the apocalypse. The sheer volume made the building shiver and your guts vibrate."

Several video clips from the concert follow, starting with one of the group playing "Trailer Trash" from their 1997 breakthrough album The Lonesome Crowded West.

Other live videos from the concert feature Modest Mouse playing "Paper Thin Walls" (here), "Bukowski" (here), and "Dashboard" (here). The band itself also published a pair of pics taken by Pat Graham featuring their tour stop in Madison. The first showing bassist Eric Judy playing a whistle while walking up the 600 block of East Johnson Street, while the second focuses on the cheering audience at the Orpheum as seen from the stage.
