Today's image is titled O'Cayz Corral and was photographed by Rökker.
This photo was shot by the publisher of Maximum Ink just one day shy of seven years ago on the morning of New Year's Day 2001. It captures in the aftermath of a fire that consumed a pair of taverns on East Wilson Street in downtown Madison: the Comic Strip and O'Cayz Corral. The latter is the venerable music venue that played host to a plethora of punk, alternative, and roots bands through the '80s, '90s and one year this decade. The club was closed following the conflagration, but would be succeeded three-and-a-half years later when Cathy Dethmers debuted the High Noon Saloon, complete with a shrine to the beloved venue.
