Today's image is titled Every vote counts and was photographed by Angela Richardson.
This photo shows a line of expectant voters waiting for their turn at the ballot in the Ward 33 poling place at Olbrich Gardens on Madison's east side. Voters reported heavy turnout at this location throughout the day, these comments confirmed by the unofficial canvas results from the Dane County Clerk's office. There were a total of 1,802 voters among both presidential primaries, with 1,740 going for Democratic candidates and 62 going for Republican candidates. Obama swept away all competition with 1,242 votes, followed by 459 for Clinton and an anemic 31 for McCain. In all, it's an fairly expectable snapshot of this reliably progressive east side ward in the Schenk-Atwod-Starkweather-Yahara neighborhood.
Richardson shot a few other photos of this particular polling place, as did Katie Kruger in a small gallery from inside the Olbrich center. Others voters shooting pics of the voting spots on Tuesday included Mark Sadowski (here) and Rebecca Thorman (here) -- both of the Ward 39 polling location in the Gates of Heaven Synagogue at James Madison Park.
