Today's image is titled DJ Lights, free with every order. and was photographed by Will Ringland.
This photo shows the hands of Nick Nice staying busy in the midst of a mix last Friday at Natt Spil. "My favorite restaurant/bar in town for atmosphere and good techno music," writes Ringland in the caption. It's one of several images of the renowned DJ in action at the King Street nightspot, one showing a fuller view of Nice behind his laptop, and another finding him in the background behind a row of patrons nursing their drinks under the paper lanterns lighting the wood-lined and laid-back club. "I think DJs get into it for the cool lighting," notes Ringland, which is replete in all of these images.
Nice's mix from his February 28 appearance at Natt Spil is available online for listening. "This is a live set from yet another snow filled evening with most people choosing to stay home and hibernate," he notes. "The lucky few that were out enjoyed a nice herbal infused winter set that I ended up playing. Hope you all dig it!"
Many other recent performances by Nice are also ready for downloading, most notably a trio of his Soundlab sets (here, here, here) at the Majestic Theatre just one block up King Street, and another trio (here, here, and here) from the Cardinal Bar just a few blocks in the other direction. "Natt Spil is probably the coolest bar/lounge/restaurant where I live," declares Nice in the introduction to another mix from last summer.
The next Nick Nice performance at Natt Spil will be on Friday, March 28, followed by another on Friday, April 18, according to his MySpace page. More photos by Ringland, meanwhile, can be found at ABMann Studios.
