Today's image is titled Tommy the Magnificent and was photographed by Will Ringland.
As the closing rounds of the battle for the Democratic nomination in the 2008 presidential election have remained the focus of political attention of the last couple of months, the campaign continues in Wisconsin, particularly on the Republic side of the aisle. John McCain visited the Milwaukee area last week, and his surrogates continue to visit and work within the state as the autumn approaches.
This photo shows former Wisconsin governor Tommy Thompson speaking last month in Verona. "Epic brought in a rep from the John McCain campaign to discuss his views on healthcare -- his was the third in a series where we saw reps from the other campaigns," writes Ringland in the caption to the photo. "I'll refrain from commenting on the speech, and what policy he proposed; suffice that Governor Thompson is very jovial and sounds like a regular, working person when he speaks. Plain-spoken and straight forward, which I do like."
Given that that the Republican convention is to be held in the Twin Cities in September, and all of the Great Lakes states are considered swing states in the election, there's no doubt that there will be many more appearances by the candidates and their supporters up through the election in November.
