Today's image is titled i dream of summer on the lake and was photographed by Ryan Wisniewski.
Don't we all! This photo shot last Sunday captures a beach scene at Governor Nelson State Park on the north side of Lake Mendota. A breakwater helps still the waves in the small swimming area, while sailboats and other vessels ply the lake all the way over to Maple Bluff on the opposite shore. "The water was warm enough... but a little iffy on the content side," notes Wisniewski. "Lots of strange algae-looking material mixing with what appeared to be either boat exhaust or Teenage Mutant Ninja ooze... or, perhaps, a combination of the two," is how he describes the early summer water condition at the end of the lake that receives the full brunt of agricultural runoff. "Refreshing on the ankles, nonetheless," he concludes.
