Someone, call security!
Today's image is titled Someone, call security! and was photographed by Angela Richardson.
The central fountain of Monona Terrace and the late evening skies are illuminated by an unseen full moon in this photo shot on Wednesday, a romantic summer setting for a pair of lovebirds perched on the ledge of Olin Terrace entrance to the downtown Madison landmark. Richardson describes the scene and capturing the shot:
They were watching me and when I got within earshot I yelled, "I've been waiting for you two to kiss!" The guy said, "Oh, OK!" and kissed the girl. It was too quick a kiss for me to catch and I so shouted out, "Sorry, you'll have to do it again, I missed the shot."
He said, "Um, OK...um, thanks! Tell me when." They kissed for a long time on the second try. "Thanks!" he yelled again as I waved and moved on. It occurs to me now that maybe they were on a first date and perhaps hadn't shared a kiss before I implored them to??? In any case, to the kissing daredevils, I say: Um, thanks! And you're welcome. Please return the favor someday.
Twilight arrives late and last long this evening as the season peaks with the summer solstice, and there will undoubtedly be plenty more people spending their time under the stars.
