Today's image is titled A Little Buddy spotting! and was photographed by Karen Darcy.
Shot on Monday, this photo shows a muskrat swimming along the shores of Lake Monona on the near east side. The creatures are a common sight in Madison's lakes and storm sewer entrances, and are indeed common throughout the state, as detailed in a Critter Corner profile from the Wisconsin DNR. "Today, I startled him by accident as I walked along the shore," notes Darcy in the caption. "He was on land and appeared to be grooming himself, but made a quick water getaway once he spotted me."
