Today's image is titled Spotlight on... and was photographed by Emily Mills.

A painting of a musician playing an upright bass is illuminated by a ladder-mounted spotlight in this photo, shot last Sunday at a new downtown restaurant currently under construction. The location in question is The Bayou -- a "New Orleans Style Tavern" -- located at 117 South Butler Street in the former home of Ken's Bar. Located on the back interior wall of the building, the painting is a portion of a larger mural being created by Andrei Yakushyk of Advanced Murals. The photo taped next to the painting is the model for the next figure in the mural, which will be located next to the bassist.

The photo is part of a collection shot by Mills during the course of the latest monthly photo walk conducted by the Madison Flickrmeets group. There are many more photos from inside the new restaurant shot by other walk participants -- including here, here, here, here, and here -- that capture the ongoing work inside the new restaurant.

The Bayou was officially granted a liquor license nearly a year ago, but progress on the establishment has been incremental, and a request for a sidewalk café permit remains pending.
