Today's image is titled "Maxwell Street painting" and was photographed by Kristian Knutsen.
The six-way intersection of State, Johnson, and Henry streets in downtown Madison buzzes with activity on Saturday afternoon as shoppers make their way from vendor to vendor at Maxwell Street Days last weekend. Now in its 33rd year, the mid-summer sidewalk sale attracts not only browsers, shoppers, and just plain revelers, but the carnival atmosphere also attracts others joining in the cacophony, including evangelical ranters, choreographed dance squads, and plenty of photographers.
And painters. This photo shows a man painting a watercolor streetscape of the intersection and 300 block of State Street, as seen from the spit of sidewalk that wraps around the glass flatiron lobby of the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.
