Rhyming with the Sky
Today's image is titled Rhyming with the Sky and was photographed by Peter Patau.
Alternating patches of clouds and clear sky loom over the elevated waves of that comprise a portion of "Timekeeper," a 1983 sculpture by American artist Robert Curtis that is located just south of Monona Terrace in Law Park in downtown Madison.
"It looks a bit like an 'M for Madison' with wings, but I like to think of these rounded blue curves as suggesting clouds, rhyming with the sky," notes Patau in the caption to the photo shot over the weekend. "It's the 25th anniversary of the installation of the work of public art that doesn't seem to get much respect from anyone but me." He shared more thoughts on Curtis' installation in an appreciative essay published in the summer of 2007, declaring "all I can do is to give his Law Park sculpture an affectionate wave every time I pedal past on the Lakeshore Bike Path."
