Today's image is titled Some of Lake Wingra's First Ice Fishing of the Season and was photographed by Peter Patau.
"The sun has already set, and they're still running out there," writes Patau in the caption to this photo, shot late Friday afternoon on the newly-frozen surface of Lake Wingra on the south side of Madison. "It looks solid, but I'm not sure I'm quite ready to trust it yet. But then, I'm not an ice fisherman. I'm not going to risk falling through the ice for the pleasure of sitting for hours in icy solitude, alone with my thoughts and the possibility of occasionally encountering a fish that wonders what that funny little hole in the ice is."
