On a day when schools are closed and most activities cancelled due to snow, a critical Transit and Parking Commission meeting scheduled for Tuesday night will go on as planned.
"It's not the sort of thing I want to postpone," says commission chair Carl DuRocher of the meeting, at which the decision will be made whether to raise Madison Metro's cash fares by 50 cents, to $2. "It would seem like an abdication not to do it."
Other city committees have As for members of the public who might find it difficult to attend a meeting, DuRocher notes that many people attended a public hearing on the issue last week. "We took testimony for four consecutive hours," he says.
The meeting will be held in Room 260 of the Madison Municipal Building, beginning at 5 p.m.
