There's probably no more visible symbol of the holiday season in Madison than the University Avenue Holiday Lights. A couple of hundred arbor vitae trees gleam in seemingly all colors of the rainbow in a display that spans two long blocks of the near west side thoroughfare. The lights were first put up in 1994 and continue to be maintained by retired dentist Jack Kammer, who just released a new book and has launched a trust fund to maintain the display long into the future. Merry Christmas!
