The King is Dead! Long Live the King!
Until sidetracked by a pair of celebrity passings, Forons dove into politics this week, discussing affairs and hypocrisy at all levels of government. From intra-politico-breeding and South Carolina's escapee governor to Iranian unrest and a global economy in the tank, the chatter only proves that Obama, love him or hate him, has a doozy on his hands.
Funny and absurd
Sweatshop-free only goes so far.

Actually, when I stopped by I thought it felt like an incredibly well-organized yet low-end Goodwill. Everything I kinda liked was about eight sizes too small, thinking about how I'd look in some of it made me feel grody, and I'd never, ever wear most of it except on Halloween.

Snippet of the letter from McBride to the chief:
But something special happened between us that night; I will always cherish it. A complete meeting on all levels - mind, body, heart that I have never experienced. You completed me that night."
Lesson: If you're going to conduct an illicit affair with a public servant and you just can't keep yourself from expressing your cheesy, Harlequin Romance-esque feelings to your beloved, don't do it in writing.
Can someone get this guy a gig with Harper-Collins?

Pattern:
Republican spends on useless military apparatus, breaks international laws and covers it up, destroys the middle class.
Republican can't keep a campaign promise when he gets into office gets, starts a war his ass kicked 4 years later by a Democrat.
Democrat takes a massive deficit and turns it into a surplus. America prospers. Democrat gets a BJ.
Republican steals election, takes ofice and immediately thinks its opposite day. Starts tearing down everything his predecessor did economically and destroys the surplus, ignores briefings on terror plots, destroys the middle class, commits countless war crimes, starts two wars threatens two more. Leaves the country in the worst condition since the 30's.
Democrat gets elected to clean up the mess left by the Republican.
Shameless excuse for a NASCAR jab.

Can you site the statue, please, that clearly states one can hunt down deer with a motorized vehicle when the deer hunting season has expired? This is ridiculous. I think hunters would shun this type of behavior. These guys ever come brag-assin' about this where I'm from they'd leave the town with a few less teeth. Karma has a funny way of working though. I won't be surprised when these jack-asses are found tits to the sun with their heads on one side of the barbed wire and their "snow machines" on the other. Gotta love that Coors Light and NASCAR crowd! One more question...did they have guns or are they felons not allowed to possess?

Your point doesn't make much sense to me. You seem to be saying that you disagree with Obama because some of the press is giving him a free ride. I think much of the establishment press gave Bush a free ride for far too long, but that is not why I disagreed with Bush policies. Let me point out that no one is calling dissenters from Obama policies traitors, terrorist sympathizers, enemies of America, etc., etc. That is what many of the dissenters from Bush policies had to put up with. Stop whining.
We gotta be a little concerned about the bottom line.

The sprinkler's a great idea! Please carry in some water if dehydration has been a problem in the past. The free festival idea works if you and your chums come and buy a beverage or two. That's how the Wil-Mar Center turns a superb musical event into a fundraiser. The Vera Court Neighborhood Center will be selling water and soft drinks to raise money for their programs also.
If we charged $25 a day for admission you could expect a water fountain or two. We certainly discourage people from bringing coolers to this event. So please appreciate the overall cost of providing huge tents to keep you cool, great staging and sound and great music from all over the French speaking world. So we want you to come thirsty, purchase a nice cold beverage and support the event and have a memorable time.

Twitter Users! fuck shit up for iran, maybe!
Post by benfury Mon Jun 22, 2009 1:33 pm
If you use Twitter, set your location to Tehran & your time zone to GMT +3.30. Iranian security forces are hunting for bloggers using location/timezone searches. The more people at this location, the more of a logjam it creates for forces trying to shut down Iranians' access to the internet. Cut, paste, pass it on.
Who knows if it will work. Let's see.
A little action south of the border.
Sanford and Sons
Post by pjbogart Wed Jun 24, 2009 1:30 pm
What? Nobody wants to engage in wild speculation about the strange disappearance, reappearance and subsequent lies by the South Carolina Governor and potential Republican Presidential candidate Mark Sanford?
He was so distraught by being forced to accept Federal stimulus money by the courts and the South Carolina legislature that he disappeared for four days, leaving behind his wife and four sons on Father's day weekend while he took a stroll down the Appalachian Trail. Except the airport shows that he was actually on a plane returning from Argentina and I'm pretty sure the Appalachian Trail doesn't extend all the way to South America. What was he doing in Argentina and why didn't he tell anyone where he was going? He reworked his story to include the Argentina bit, ditching the Appalachian Trail story but never really explaining why he lied in the first place. Apparently, the new story is that he was driving along the coastal highway, except Argentina doesn't have a coastal highway so unless he was driving a tricycle or maybe handwalking down the two mile stretch that might qualify as a coastal highway, it seems he's reneging on his lies by coming up with more lies.
I know that it's all just wild speculation, but it sure as hell beats talking about two yokels who ran over a deer with their snowmobile.
An awareness poster couldn't hurt.

I think it's depressingly silly that so many news outlets won't say what kind of cancer she died of. Fox News of all outlets has a piece on the awareness issue, along with some lame apology for the media from the American Cancer Society.
