Antique Scream
High Noon Saloon, 8:30 pm
Psychedelic garage-rock with a bit of jangle, Seattle's Antique Scream is on the menu at the High Noon, with an appetizer of '50s and '60s pop with a punk-rock glaze in openers Road Agent Spin. The Antiprism also performs.

Tim Whalen Nonet, Leo Sidran's Bridge to Know Where
100 block of State Street (Overture Center lobby if it rains), 5 pm
The summer Jazz at Five continues with Whalen's always-fascinating group, and then a set by young Sidran, who's joined in this project by Ben Sidran, Richard Davis, Joy Dragland and Louka Patenaude.

Daniel Johnston
Barrymore Theatre, 7:30 pm
Before the 2006 film The Devil and Daniel Johnston explored the folk-rock musician's struggle with mental illness, he was known for his contributions to the Kids soundtrack and his album Hi, How Are You, the cover of which often appeared on Kurt Cobain's T-shirts during the '90s. Marty Finkel and Mark Waldoch open.

The Breeders
Majestic Theatre, 8:30 pm
The Breeders prove that 1993's Last Splash wasn't their final dive into the shark-infested waters of the recording industry. However, for now, they're playing it close to the vest with a new EP, Fate to Fatal, which they wrote, recorded, produced and even screen-printed the art for themselves. Read more in this week's Tour Stop. Whispertown 2000 opens.

Thursday 8.13
NOTEWORTHY: East Germany seals border between East and West Berlin, 1961.
BIRTHDAYS: Olympic speed skater Shani Davis, 1982.
