William Jamerson
The Gardens, 602 N. Segoe Rd., 3:30 pm
A well-traveled historian based in Escanaba, Mich., Bill Jamerson may be best known as the maker of PBS films such as Camp Forgotten and Fruit of Dreams. However, he's also the creator of original stories and songs about lumberjacks, iron miners and the young men who worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. He'll perform them at the assisted-living community adjacent to the Hilldale Shopping Center.

High Noon Saloon, 6 pm
The local singer-songwriter and his band celebrate the release of a new five-song EP, Feel Good Hit of the Summer -- a taste of a forthcoming LP called Snap Your Fingers & Stomp Your Feet -- while the bar serves up two-for-one rail drinks and tap beers. Listen to a track from the EP in this week's MadTracks review.

O.A.R.
Overture Hall, 7:30 pm
The Maryland rockers waged a stealth campaign to stardom. No one had ever heard of them, and suddenly they were playing Madison Square Garden and selling zillions of records on the strength of the single "Love and Memories," which plants itself in skulls and never goes away. The band made a big Madison impression last year headlining Freakfest, and here they are again. With Brett Dennen.

The Spits, Woven Bones,br> Frequency, 9:30 pm
The noisy, grungy, lo-fi punk of Seattle's The Spits is an ideal soundtrack for skateboarding and snowboarding. In fact, it's been featured in at least four videos of skate and snowboard tricks, including Creature Skateboards' Born Dead video. Texas-based tourmates Woven Bones have a super-solid list of influences that includes Link Wray, The Vaselines and Minor Threat. Also playing: The Transgressions, The Hussy.
