Remember Bull Feathers? The Henry St bar off State St used to be the best place for underagers to get cheap drinks at "Friday After Class." Ironically, the one time I went there freshman year, the bouncer was not in a good mood, and my "non-government photo identification" was rejected.

Bull Feathers had an image change and became Ram Head, which was reputedly a tough party to beat. However, by the time I moved into the neighborhood (two doors down), Ram Head was shuttered. It had been suspended for a month in response to numerous liquor license violations, including serving to minors, and owner Richard Lyshek, who Ald. Michael Schumacher said "doesn't give a damn," decided the suspension was enough to close the bar for good.

But North Henry St needs more than one permanent party haven. Those of us who don't like to venture more than 50 feet from our residence for a drink need an alternative to standing in line at the Plaza. Especially on Thursday nights. The long island iced tea has run its course at least through my bloodstream.

However, a new bar will be replacing Ram Head on the corner of Henry and Johnson. It's going to be called the Lucky Duck, and it will be run by Ted Gervasi, the owner of Madhatters, which strongly suggests the creation of an outlet for the Langdon Street crowd.
