Things are going pretty well for Brett Davis. He is the frontrunner for the GOP Lt. Governor's nomination, and ol' Tommy just endorsed him a few hours ago. However, there is at least one Wisconsinite who will not be voting for the state representative tomorrow. Blogger Nathan Lustig shares the story of an apartment he rented from Davis a couple weeks ago:
My friends and I moved into the top two floors of a house on N. Hancock street on August 15th and quickly found out that there were bats sharing the house with us. Each night (and many mornings) for the seven days that we lived there, at least 3-4 bats would fly around our living room and bedrooms. From the first night, we alerted our landlord Brett Davis via phone, that there were bats living in the apartment. In fact, our second night in the apartment, Brett was at our house when bats were in our living room and he helped us get them out of the house. Our downstairs neighbors, who had lived upstairs the year before, claimed that they had alerted Brett about the bat problem previously. He did not seem worried and told us that he would take care of it. He also asked us to pay our rent and security deposit.
Lustig goes on to detail a number of interactions with Davis, in which further bat problems were addressed to the landlord to no avail. Finally, the roomies decided to ditch the apartment, informing Davis that the living conditions were unacceptable. Davis responded by threatening legal action, but later relented. However, the pol put the apartment on Craigslist immediately after. Lustig later went to the doctor with an infected lung that the MD attributed to exposure to bat guano.
