A group called Speech Now, headed by David Keating, executive director of the Club for Growth, is pumping six figures into an ad campaign against Russ Feingold, the top nemesis of the group whose mission is to oppose campaign finance regulation.
Of course, the ad the group is airing makes little mention of this motive. The Republican Party line is the primary message: Tax increases, record debt, and, best of all, government-run health care.
At one point the ad says Feingold "attacked our First Amendment right to free speech." That is apparently a reference to McCain-Feingold. The vast majority of viewers won't get that. But that's the point.
