Spencer Black rescinds endorsement of Hulsey
on (26) Comments

Rep. Spencer Black, who earlier issued a press release reprimanding Brett Hulsey for misrepresenting him in a campaign mailer, has now withdrawn his support for the Democratic Assembly candidate. From a Manski press release:

Says Rep. Black, "The quote attributed to me in that mailing is not my quote. In fact, when Brett Hulsey asked if he could attribute that quote to me (one that I had never written or said) I made it clear he could not, since it is not my words."

In an email in which Mayor Dave Cieslewicz was cc'd, Spencer wrote, "Remember that breakfast that Mayor Dave and I had with you to tell you that you had a problem with trustworthiness. This is an example why. I never said the statement was fine. I said just the opposite. You can't vuse a statement that I didn't write. I don't let people put words in my mouth."

"I had previously indicated that I was intending to vote for the entire Democratic ticket. At this point, I am rethinking how I intend to vote in the Assembly race." says Spencer Black.

The only thing that is clear is that Brett Hulsey's political future hit a very solid brick wall today. Whether or not he is elected, he will likely struggle to gain influence in the legislature amidst so much distrust from his colleagues, who will not take kindly to him exploiting a venerated Assembly veteran.
