Jimmy the Groundhog

Jimmy the Groundhog emerges from his long winter slumber this week, and his hometown of Sun Prairie is celebrating the waning season. The calendar also includes: live music from Snoop Dogg, The Damned Things, and Poirier; and, a production of A Comedy of Errors by The Acting Company.

Snoop Dogg
Orpheum Theatre, 8 pm
Fo' shizzle, Madisizzle: Snoop's hitting town to get fans ready for Doggumentary, a sequel to his famous 1993 debut, Doggystyle. Due out March 29, it's reported to feature collaborations with Wiz Khalifa and Katy Perry, plus a wicked mix of gangsta rap and R&B tracks. See if he'll toss the crowd a bone about its other contents at this show.

Punxsutawney Phil? Feh. We have our own meteorologically inclined groundhog, Sun Prairie's Jimmy, who will have something to say about our weather future at this cheerful annual event.

The Acting Company: A Comedy Of Errors
Wisconsin Union Theater, 8 pm
In Shakespeare's farce, two sets of identical twins who have been separated at birth end up in the same town, leading to...a comedy of errors. The Acting Company was formed by John Houseman and Margot Harley in 1972 and is one of the most respected touring repertory companies in the U.S.

The Damned Things
Annex, 8 pm
Do you like Fall Out Boy? And do you like Anthrax? Then you're in luck, because members of both are in this metal supergroup. With the Skintones and Silence Is Broken.

High Noon Saloon, 9 pm
This DJ and producer from Montreal thrives by combining sounds most won't dare to pair, from tropical beats and street-smart electro to soca, grime and booty bass. Bypassing Chicago, Detroit and Minneapolis, he'll visit Madison before heading back to Canuck territory. With Samrock, Milhouse and Clayton Colwell.
