Join us here for live-coverage of the #OccupyMadison encampment, continuing at the "Veterans Park" plaza at the Capitol end of State Street in downtown Madison. The demonstration is one of many being conducted around the United States, organized in solidarity with and seeking to build upon the ongoing Occupy Wall Street series of protests based around Zuccotti Park and Manhattan's Financial District in New York City.
The encampment was launched on Friday, October 7 at Reynolds Park, located in the Tenney neighborhood on the east side of Madison. After remaining in the park for three nights, participants vacated the space on late Monday following dispersal orders from the Madison Police Department. The group reconvened on Tuesday evening at the plaza located at the intersection of Carroll, Mifflin, and State Streets, meeting at the stage located next to the Wisconsin Veterans Museum, and decided to remain at this location until further notice.
More details about these opening stages of the protest can be found in live coverage of their first week.
