Indian Handcrafts: Civil Disobedience for Losers
(Sargent House)

"Bruce Lee" certainly kicks hard enough. The muscle-bound lead single from Indian Handcrafts' sludgy new album charges right in and starts pummeling. Then the howling, cave-echo demon shouts of Brandyn James Aikins and Daniel Brandon Allen blow out the windows before a screeching riff breakdown sends the shards in all directions. It's the sort of jet-propelled technical proficiency that might wear out its welcome quickly were it not so fun and funky.

For every monster truck like "Terminal Horse," designed only to crush, there's a "Red Action" that helps you kick back and enjoy the ride. The cloud of guitar fuzz that hovers around the whole operation can tend toward monotony, but the vocal dexterity and guitar workouts fend off boredom handily.
