The Blystone
While 827 E. Johnson St., the space formerly home to Mildred's Sandwich Shop, is to become The Spot, to be run by Joe Tachovsky, according to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal, Mildred's sandwiches will live on elsewhere.
Madtown Pizza at 912 E. Johnson St. (across the street and down a block from Mildred's), has begun serving some favorites from the Mildred's menu, among the Leadbelly, the Agurkai, the Workers, and the "Blindstone" (aka the Blystone).
According to a post on the not-yet-defunct Mildred's Sandwich Shop Facebook page, this is due to the Madtown employment of longtime Mildred's staffer Pete Selbo.
On the Madtown Pizza Facebook page, new lunch hours are posted along with a telling clue: "Madtown Pizza is now open for lunch Tuesday-Saturday. Serving neighborhood sandwich shop favorites."
