Former U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold is once again getting married.

Feingold confirms that he filed a marriage license application Friday in the Dane County Clerk's Office. But he declined to provide any further details.

According to the clerk's website, an application must be submitted at least six full calendar days before the license is issued. The couple must then marry within 30 days.

Before even applying for the marriage license, proof that wedding arrangements are in place must be presented to the clerk. "At the time of application you will tell us the date and place of marriage ceremony and full name and title of the officiant."

This will be the third marriage for Feingold, who was divorced in 1987 and again in 2005.

Feingold represented Wisconsin for 18 years in the U.S. Senate before losing to Ron Johnson in 2010. In June, Secretary of State John Kerry appointed Feingold, with whom he served in the Senate, as special envoy for the African Great Lakes region and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Feingold chaired the Africa subcommittee of the Foreign Relations Committee when Kerry was chair.
