Taste a memorable menu of pairings at the Heartland Beer Dinner (canceled)

Kick off the weekend of Isthmus Beer & Cheese Fest in the best way possible -- with a memorable meal pairing delicious plates with some of Wisconsin's best brews! Chef Patrick Deptula and Robin Shepard proudly present the Heartland Beer Dinner at the Sheraton Madison Hotel on Friday, Jan. 17. Tickets for the dinner are now on sale, and include an option for an early evening tour of Wisconsin Brewing Company in Verona, hosted by Hop Head Beer Tours.

Served at the Heartland Grill, the dinner will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased for the dinner alone, or include the brewery tour, with the Hop Head beer shuttle departing from the Sheraton at 5:30 p.m. and returning from Verona at 7 p.m. in advance of the dinner. Tickets are for the dinner alone are $70, or $80 for the dinner and tour.

The five-course pairing menu was developed by Chef James Deptula and Robin Shepard, who writes the popular Beer Here reviews and reports on brewery news for Isthmus, and author of author of Wisconsin's Best Breweries and Brewpubs: Searching for the Perfect Pint.

The dinner will open with a serving of Serendipity from New Glarus Brewing, and continue with five paired rounds:

  • Course One: Duck Confit paired with Happy Ending from Ale Asylum.
  • Course Two: Spinach and Fennel Salad paired with Cirque Du Wit from 3 Sheeps Brewing
  • Course Three: House Smoked Szechan Pork Belly paired with Old Glory American Pale Ale from the Great Dane
  • Course Four: Coffee & Stout Braised Short Ribs paired with Warped Speed Scotch Ale from Lake Louie Brewing
  • Course Five: Door County Cherry Lambic Crisp paired with Lunatic Imperial Stout from Hinterland Beer

Tickets are available online. You must be 21 or older to attend.

Wisconsin Brewing Company is also hosting a pre-festival open brewhouse from 3-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17. The event will feature prizes including a pair of Isthmus Beer & Cheese Fest tickets, private brewery tour packages, and an opportunity to brew with brewmaster Kirby Nelson. Wisconsin Brewing Company is located at 1079 American Way in Verona.
