Get your canoes ready for Isthmus Paddle & Portage 2014!
on

Get ready to hit the lakes! Isthmus Paddle & Portage is back for 2014. The uniquely Madison race returns to our lakes and the streets connecting them on Saturday, July 19.

Isthmus is proud to host hundreds of participants from across the country as they descend on downtown Madison for the 35th annual competition! Participants from all strokes of life brave the lakes and hit the streets -- professional racers, amateur canoeists, parents, children and everyone in between -- all aiming for an energetic good time.

The race begins at James Madison Park with a 1.5-mile paddle on Lake Mendota, followed by a 1-mile portage past the Capitol and Dane County Farmers' Market, before heading to the final 1.5-mile paddle across Lake Monona and the finish line at Olin Park. Racers and spectators are then invited a post-race party at the park to enjoy music, delicious food, refreshing craft brews and the 2014 Paddle & Portage awards ceremony!

Keep an eye out for racers dressed to impress! Paddlers are invited to deck themselves out and vote for their favorite costumed canoeists as part of our annual costume contest! Like the Isthmus Paddle & Portage Facebook page for prize updates and announcements as the event draws nearer!

Registration is $40 in advance and can be purchased online. Start training today!
