American Sniper was nominated for six Academy Awards this year. Although it won only one award Sunday -- for best sound editing -- the movie is now considered the most successful war movie of all time, grossing more than $400 million and generating fiery debate. But as Catherine Capellaro reports in this week's Isthmus, there's a reason many veterans are embracing the film.
She reports on veteran Henry Janisch's experiences in both Iraq and Afghanistan, including a brief stint as a sniper. Capellaro spoke to WORT producer Dylan Brogan about the story on Feb. 19 edition of In Our Backyard, the station's evening news program. Listen to the interview here.
