Today's image is titled Madison Goes Red for Women and was photographed by Karen Darcy.
The photo shows the state Capitol dome as seen through the evening and night of Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007 (that is, Valentine's Day). Though timed to coincide with the holiday, the dome was illuminated as part of a program called Go Red for Women, with the goal of building heart-disease awareness.
Darcy took four photos of the glowing dome, available here for viewing. The display was an irresistible draw for local photographers, with others capturing snaps of the dome and its reflections from a variety of perspectives. They can be viewed here, here, and here. There is also ongoing discussion about the lighting at a Madison Flickr group.
