The retro-rock quartet Locksley, which got its start in Madison less than four years ago, has been enjoying a rapid ascendance since the release of its debut album in early 2006. Now based in Brooklyn, Locksley is among the few unsigned bands to have a video broadcast on MTV, and in the last couple of months has received favorable ink from Spin andAlternative Press, as well as a fashion spread in ELLE.
Locksley brought its British Invasion-style licks back to Madison over the weekend, headlining a show Saturday night at the Annex. The group also made an in-store appearance at Strictly Discs on Monroe Street, performing a brief acoustic set in the front window of the record shop.
A video clip of their performance of "Into the Sun" follows below.
There are several other videos of Locksley's Saturday afternoon appearance, including performances of "The Past and the Present' (here), a tutorial for audience participation on "Darling It's True" (here), their new song "You, My Love" (here), and a solo performance by lead guitarist Kai Kennedy of "I'll Concede It" (here).
