Today's image is titled Yellow Jersey and was photographed by Tim Somers.
"Yes, those are udders on the cow-spotted clouds,' writes Somers in the caption to his photo, which features a sign on the east wall of 419 State St. This building is the home of Yellow Jersey, a full-service bicycle shop that sells, repairs and rents bikes. Yellow Jersey has been in operation for 432 months and 2 days, or since April Fool's Day, 1971.
The shop has had several locations in downtown Madison throughout the years, including at 601 University Ave. and 613 University Ave. (both long since replaced by a surface parking lot and the UW Fluno Center). More details about the history of this institution -- a longtime purveyor of free air for tires in its back lot facing Gorham Street -- can be found in the essay, "Who the heck is Yellow Jersey?".
