Today's image is titled Morning Sun and Effects and was photographed by Dave Esmond.
Shot nearly a month ago in the dawn of the summer solstice, this photo captures a view of the UW-Madison skyline that will soon be history. The picture was snapped at the southwestern section of the campus near Camp Randall and captures a short stretch of buildings along University Avenue (between Charter and Randall streets) that will be largely demolished in the coming years. Replacing them will be the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery, a pair of public and private institutions that will occupy two full blocks in the heart of campus, with construction expected to begin next year. More details can be found at the UW's latest master plan and its official campus map.
