One of Madison's most iconic musicians played it cool under the blazing sun late Saturday afternoon on the shores of Lake Mendota. Commanding attention from the half-moon stage at the center of the Union Terrace, State Street busking mainstay Catfish Stepehenson wielded his trademark steel guitar at the Terrace Blues Festival for an hour as part of a lineup of local and regional blues musicians.

"All of my songs have something in them that has actually taken place in my life," said Stephenson in an interview with Isthmus in advance of the festival. One song he performed on Saturday was a cover of the American standard "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime", the Depression-era anthem. A video clip of this live performance follows below.

A video clip of Stephenson performing the Rolling Stones' "No Expectations" at the festival is also available for viewing. There are plenty of places to see Catfish playing around town if you miss him on State Street or on the Square during the Dane County Farmers' Market. He plays multiple weekly shows, including at Brocach Irish Pub on Mondays and the Up North Bar on Thursdays.
