Despite efforts by the Madison promoter Frank Productions and its partners at the City of Madison to maintain a tight leash on information about this year's Halloween party on State Street, information about the entertainment slate is leaking fast. One major national rock group slated to perform at the Freakfest 2007 revelry on October 27 is Lifehouse, a Christian rock trio that hit Top 40 radio in 1999 with their debut and has subsequently released three more albums.
Four other groups have announced that they are playing the party on State Street:
- The first local group to announce their appearance at Freakfest 2007 is The Mighty Short Bus, a Southern rock quintet that played a headlining spot at the inaugural event last year.
- Another national group that's slated to play at the party is The Gabe Dixon Band, a piano-based pop trio based in Nashville that is touring college towns around the nation this autumn.
- Matt Wertz is accompanying this tour and will be stopping in Madison. The singer-songwriter from Missouri plays frequently in town and draws a large and youthful crowd, having performed at the Orpheum Stage Door last February and in September 2005.
- Dave Barnes, another pop-rock group from Nashville led by a singer-songwriter, is also on this tour and is likewise playing Freakfest.
Frank Productions has stated that they will announce the entire slate of entertainment come the first week of October, but given the availability of information provided by these bands so far, it's likely more will come to light before the end of the month.
