Beer Here: Kremlin Russian Imperial Stout from House of Brews

Madison's House of Brews is building a lineup of 22-ounce bomber bottle offerings and has its sights set on two big cities. "I really want to get my beers out in bombers, so I'm planning on self-distributing in parts of Chicago and Milwaukee," says brewery owner Page Buchanan. Among the first beers that Buchanan will take on the road is a bold Russian Imperial Stout he calls Kremlin. >More
Beer Here: Beyond 2014 Braggot by Sprecher Brewing

A few beers are made for aging. One of those is the braggot, a brew that falls between a beer, made with malts, and a mead, made with honey. Braggots can take a long time to make and they can be expensive, so not many breweries produce them. Sprecher Brewing has been aging a braggot for nearly two years now, though, and the first bottles just started appearing around southern Wisconsin. >More

"We're four pretty normal guys who love beer, love making it, and love sharing it," says Jimmy Gohsman, who makes up one-quarter of 4 Brothers Blended Beer Company. Jimmy and his brothers are taking a different track than most breweries, which turn out beers that fall within standard styles. >More

The Wisconsin beer enthusiast will likely consider a cold can, dewy bottle or draught pour of their classic or craft favorite to stand as the state's official drink. However, there are others who will place the brandy Old Fashioned on that same pedestal, some maybe event a step above beer. The cocktail is certainly iconic, especially over the colder months of the calendar. >More
Get to know Midwest brewers in Locally Brewed by Anna Blessing

To misquote Homer Simpson, "Craft beer. Is there anything it can't do?" Of course Homer, the great devotee of Duff, probably wouldn't know what to make of an IPA. >More
Beer Here: Heavy Head Imperial Pilsner from the Great Dane Hilldale

When Rob LoBreglio, brewmaster and co-owner of the Great Dane brewpubs, recently cut an interview short because one of his brewers was in the midst of making a beer and was calling to ask his advice, it made me curious. It turns out the beer in question was destined to become one of the biggest and strongest lagers the Dane has ever made. >More

Beer enthusiasts around Madison will soon have another opportunity to indulge their taste for hoppy pale ales. The Hop Garden, a new farm and beer company based in Belleville, is getting ready to release its debut brew, named Local Harvest Pale Ale. Beer Here: Jobu Rum Barrel Aged Brown Ale from Capital Brewery

When a new brew is unveiled at a release party, the more unusual the beer, the more excited are the expectant craft brewing fans. One that I've been eager to taste is Jobu, a bold and strong brown ale fermented in rum barrels. >More
