A new Colombian restaurant, Smiley's II, has opened at 1272 South Park Street, in the former Mi San Juanito Mexican space. The decor is, well, Spartan. The menu is divided into chicken dishes, seafood dishes, and "platos tipicos," which translates roughly into something like "native dishes" (these are all beef). >More

Slide features six different sandwiches, and none are traditional burgers. >More

Double S BBQ in Cambridge favors East Texas specialties

"Word of mouth" is an odd phrase, if you think about it. What else would our mouths do, but make words? Well, eat, duh. Eat, and then talk about it. Eat roasted meats and bright vegetables and creamy desserts and then tell everyone you know. This is the magic that Double S BBQ has managed to harness. In the few months since opening the Cambridge storefront, owners Sarah and Shon Jones have bagged high honors at La Fête de Marquette and Taste of Madison. >More
Naples 15 should stick with pizza

It has been the kind of sizzling summer that reduces everything and everyone to a stupor, except, apparently, local cooks. Maybe the sizzling start of our global warming has motivated all the chefs; why leave the kitchen if it's hotter outside? In any case, the current spurt of new kitchens continues with the debut of Naples 15, taking over the downtown space once occupied by Cafe Porta Alba (before it moved to Hilldale) and, more recently, Las Cazuelas. >More
An unlikely online partnership with Marc Maron brings a wide audience to Madison's Just Coffee Cooperative

It's hard to say if Madison's Just Coffee Cooperative has the best or the worst catchphrase in the history of advertising. The coffee roaster is the featured sponsor for one of the most popular downloads in iTunes, the WTF podcast. At the end of almost every show, host Marc Maron closes by loudly taking a sip of Just Coffee coffee and tells listeners, "Wait for it, wait for it.… Pow! I just shit my pants." >More
