Menu planning, Madison Mallards style

Each year, Madison Mallards General Manager Vern Stenman gathers his staff for an afternoon of sampling potential ballpark fare. Plates of food, nearly all of it dipped in batter and deep fried, are brought out, sampled, critiqued, debated and either rejected or added to one of the menus offered to Mallards fans. This year, he let me tag along. >More

 For Badgers, a Seminole moment

A year ago, Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden was preparing to play Kentucky in the Music City Bowl in Nashville, 25 players short. They had been suspended by the university in connection with a probe into academic misconduct. In all, some 60 FSU athletes allegedly had papers written for them and gotten answers for exams from athletic department staffers. Further official sanctions are expected in January. >More
A Q&A with Dick Vitale, baby!

Dick Vitale is either beloved or notorious among college basketball fans, due to the excitement and sheer volume he has brought to his broadcasting career. But few can deny that he's the sport's most recognizable celebrity and a relentless supporter of the game. When he's in Madison once or twice a year to call a Badgers game, as he will be for Tuesday's tilt with Texas, the level of excitement at the Kohl Center is clearly elevated. >More
