The recent floods have been cataclysmic for local farmers, some of whom have lost virtually their entire crop. They will get some relief from a dinner Monday night at Fresco, the restaurant on top of the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.

What had been planned as a farmers'-market-themed event now will be a benefit for flood-devastated farms.

"Farmers have called us in tears as they've come to realize the reality of the rain," reports Fresco general manager Caitlin Suemnicht in a press release late Friday afternoon. "Some farmers aren't even going to be at Farmers' Market tomorrow (and maybe for the rest of the season), because they have lost everything."

Due to this, she continues, "we would like to raise as much money as possible, and donate it directly to those farms in need."

The cost is $75 per person, which includes five courses (corn chowder, beet salad, roasted chicken, beef tenderloin, raspberry cobbler), wine pairings, tax and tip. Farms contributing their wares to the dinner include Harmony Valley, Ridgeland Harvest, Sweet Earth Organic, JenEhr Family and Pecatonica Valley.

More details are provided in the flyer that is attached.
