Overture Center-Gallery II 201 State St., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
Three exhibits run from Saturday, September 5 – Sunday, November 29, 2015. Join us for a reception celebrating the Fall Cycle of Overture Galleries at 6 pm, Oct. 2.
Gallery I – CelebrARTE, Rolando Cruz & Yvette Pino
CelebrARTE recognizes the work of 2014 Latino Art Fair of Dane County winners, Rolando Cruz and Yvette Pino. Through different approaches and mediums, they share their journeys of spiritual explorations and self-discovery.
Gallery II – Ubiquitous Shadows, Brian Bartlett & Katie Markson
Artists Brian Bartlett and Katie Markson employ portraiture to expose human vulnerability. Where Bartlett’s faded and abstracted paintings depict satirical characters with familiar yet memorable features, Markson’s black and white photographs provide a striking glimpse into the personal reality of living with club foot.
Gallery III – Polarization, Ray Zovar & Mark Pflughoeft
The pieces in this exhibit were created by artists Ray Zovar and Mark Pflughoeft in response to their perceptions of society’s increasingly divided social, economic, political and religious climate. The two, who had been friends for over 20 years, each embarked on a separate series of paintings around 2011 dealing with a seemingly polarized society.
