“I live in Northern Adams County where I am able to see many of Wisconsin’s wonderful wildflowers, both woodland and prairie. Many of them are abundant, some uncommon or elusive, but all are exquisite and fitting subject matter for the artist. The illustrations which I have chosen for this showing are stone lithographs. The images are drawn on, or transferred to, the surface of a large piece of limestone, from which prints are made. Each print is then hand colored with water color in hopes that the image will accurately reflect the character of each flower. Even with today’s modern pigments it is difficult, or even impossible, to match the depth and hue of the colors of these magnificent plants. Even so, it is a joy to seek them out and attempt to draw and paint them.” – Dan Keach
