Latino Americans: 500 Years of History
Verona Library 500 Silent St., Verona, Wisconsin 53593
The Verona Public Library will host a film screening of “War and Peace (1942-1954),” part III of the PBS documentary Latino Americans. Jonathan Pollack, Ph.D., history instructor at Madison College, will moderate a discussion of the film.
This program is presented as part of the Latino Americans: 500 Years of History program series. Latino Americans: 500 Years of History supports the American public’s exploration of the rich and varied history and experiences of Latinos, who have helped shape the United States over the last five centuries and who have become, with more than 50 million people, the country’s largest minority group. The cornerstone of the project is the six-part, NEH-supported 2013 documentary film, Latino Americans. The award-winning series chronicles Latinos in the United States from the 16th century to present day.
Latino Americans: 500 Years of History has been made possible through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association. Local funding provided by Beyond the Page. Community partners include the Friends of the Verona Public Library, Verona Area Chamber of Commerce, Wisconsin Public Television, and Latino Chamber of Commerce of Dane County.
