Thurston Moore Band
with Mikal Cronin, Cairo Gang

Even though Sonic Youth is no longer with us, its former members have remained active, and perhaps none more so than its legendary guitarist Thurston Moore. Since the group’s 2011 split, Moore has released two albums, the most recent being 2014’s The Best Day, a collection of noisy guitar jams that more than fills the void left by Sonic Youth. Opening is Mikal Cronin, who a few short years ago was perhaps best recognized for his work with garage rock wunderkind Ty Segall. But thanks to his past two solo releases, the aptly titled MCII and MCIII, Cronin has built his own legacy — a cohesive vision of anthemic pop songs soaked in big vocal melodies and even bigger guitar hooks. With the Cairo Gang.
