The Madison Alcohol License Review Committee will meet Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 5:30 p.m. As detailed in its agenda (PDF), here are some of the new establishments seeking licenses and other key orders of business.
Roast Public House is seeking a 21-plus entertainment license so as to host a house DJ one night a week to start and possibly to expand to a second night, and to host live local bands, according to its application. Roast also plans to offer a late night menu to coincide with its entertainment plans.
A second location for South Park Street's Cargo Coffee is going into the ground floor of The Constellation at 750 East Washington Ave. It is a sister coffee shop to Ground Zero at 744 Williamson St. The application is for beer and wine.
Short Stack Eatery, the forthcoming all-day breakfast spot headed for 301 W. Johnson St. (formerly Chi Asian Infused) is seeking a class B combination liquor and beer license. The application states the plan is for a "full service" bar with alcohol sales constituting only 8% of the business at this breakfast-only spot.
A new license for Sensations, a restaurant at 901 Applegate Rd., near the old King's Inn motel along the West Beltline (near Park Street) is also on the agenda. The application indicates Sensations will have lunch and dinner service with a full-service bar and no live entertainment. Alcohol sales are estimated at 30%; food at 60%. Its business plan discusses a need in the area for a place to hold events including weddings, which it hopes to cater to.
