La Mestiza downtown

Where are you eating and what do you think? What's opening, closing, succeeding, failing?

La Mestiza downtown

Sensible portions of delicious food at reasonable prices, at least for lunch, which is the only time I have eaten there, so far. I have had the daily special a couple times, and was rewarded for accepting the suggestion; one day, it was chicken enchiladas with mole, which I usually don't order, but I was very glad I did.

Plus, they have the good and greasy tortilla chips, with a dynamite creamy salsa verde. I will dine here many times in the foreseeable future.

Though I've not yet been to the downtown location, have eaten numerous times at the west side restaurant and have been maintaining for years that it is, without doubt, the best Mexican place in town.

Now closed and replaced by another Mexican restaurant (I forgot the name), whose owners are related to those who own Guadalajara on Park St. Has anyone been to the new place yet?

Don't know the whole story but one of the Mestiza folk now owns CILANTRO on Gammon & Tree Lane and it is EXCELLENT. Superb Mexican food with unparralled service. Personally, I love the Borrego (lamb) but every dish I have tried is outstanding. Try it, you'll like it.
