Free H20, That Will Be $1

Where are you eating and what do you think? What's opening, closing, succeeding, failing?

If the numbers I cited above of the water costs for food are correct, then restaurants waste an insane amount of water with the way that most conduct business. They order more food then they will ever use and if the site I cited above is accurate, a percentage of this will never be served and end up as garbage.
A real pro-water move would be to order less food and let people know when they are out. It would save hundreds of thousands of gallons of water. Or take some other step to conserve water, seems relatively easy (though I still feel, in Wisconsin, unnecessary).
These 28 restaurants on-board don't mention anything they are doing to conserve water (aside from the huge savings in carafe use), they're just going to charge a dollar so the customers are aware of the problem and they come off as pro-conservation.
I'm not above conservation but taking things to extremes just appears ridiculous and, again, like potilical posturing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't most of the 35 gallons of water for your cup of coffee rain falling from the sky? It's not like Graze turns on the faucet and dumps 35 gallons whenever someone orders a cup. Same thing happens when you brew a pot at home.

Why so much debate on this? It's just another stupid, superficial ego project to force awareness on others until the forcers forget about it and move onto their next cause.

Cost of doing business in a college town.

I stand in awe at the beauty of these words. Awareness acquired without consent should be a crime.

And it's so counter-productive. I'm well aware of the global water issues facing this planet. Mos Def taught me all about that back in 1999. A lecture on the subject from a server when I'm just trying to have dinner is only going to annoy me, and it has the strong possibility of influencing my behavior in a negative way. I'll go home and run the shower all night, because fuck that kid.

You're not one to let yourself be influenced by others, that's for sure.

Guessing that the server is even less interested in delivering you a lecture. Just pay the damn dollar or don't. Shit.

Went to Dotty's with some co-workers and one asked for water. The waitress said it was a dollar because of water awareness week...

That was the extent of our lecture. I'm guessing you didn't go out and are just spewing douchebaggery about the subject.

Would I need a permit to sell water on the street for $0.50? My well water tastes better and is cleaner than Madison tap water.

Slight tread jack-
I couldn't find the cent symbol on my keyboard. Did the @ take it's place in the change from typewriters to computers?

It's been gone for years. I miss it too. On the old time manual typewriter I remember best, it was down at the lower left corner of the keyboard and it shared its key with the slash (/).
